Reflection
Experience: My favorite part about this assignment was how it impacted the way I look and perceive my surroundings. I enjoyed viewing my environment, looking for all the ways I could compose a photo. I found this exercise to be incredibly peaceful, and although it wasn’t difficult, I was amazed by how long it took to shoot nine different compositions. Overall it was a great shoot, and I plan on doing this assignment again for further practice.
Learning: During this assignment, I shot several photos of people moving. Some turned out great, while others didn’t. The primary issue was the exposure and it was caused by not getting my camera setting adjusted quickly enough. Throughout my shoot, I walked around looking for exciting things. The area I was in was both shadowy and sunny. If I had just shot on F16 and saw someone walking by in the shade, it wasn’t easy to switch fast enough and vice versa. I got used to being aware of my surroundings and keeping my camera settings fairly neutral to make quick changes. After a while, I became pretty decent at adjusting the settings in time.
Future Application: In the future, I may plan to shoot moving targets or still before photographing. When I walk around, I’ll have my setting set neutral to be able to adjust quicker. When I am in public without my camera, I will make a point to examine my surrounding’s composition, so when I go and shoot, I’ll have a better eye for possible photos.
